Watervliet High School
Bangor High School
The Watervliet Panthers traveled to Bangor to face the Vikings in a Divisional match up Friday night. After losing to the Panthers by 16 points the first time they met, the Vikings were determined to protect their house. No one was disappointed with high energy level of play these two teams displayed. There were several ties and many lead changes throughout this extremely competitive game. Bangor had the lead at halftime 35-27 but the Panthers erased their deficit to tie the game at 50 at the end of the 3rd quarter, After back and forth lead changes in the 4th quarter Watervliet took a 3 point lead with 5 seconds to play. Bangor came out of the time out with a set play that got a 3 point shot at the buzzer but the shot bounced off the backboard onto the front of the rim and didn’t drop though the net. Kudos and congrats to both teams for leaving it all on the court.
Bangor was lead in scoring by Enrique Peterson who had a game high 24 points; Jondell Jones delivered 19 points; Gage Gardner and Tyrique Cunningham added 7 points each; Marshall Weber and Terry Brunn had 3 points a piece; and Chris Steward rounded out the Viking scoring with 2 points.
